$36.00

107 in stock

This is our 2nd ever release of a Sauvignon Blanc under our SV5182 designation. We feel that this wine showcases the best expression of our site here at Te Whare Ra and the stellar quality of the 2022 vintage in Marlborough.  This wine is the culmination of a 15 year project we have been pursuing with Sauvignon Blanc from our TWR home block.

This wine is all about fruit weight and texture which is achieved with low crops, meticulous canopy management and lots of attention to detail with fruit selection. The focus was making a wine which has great texture and fleshiness and which is characterised by lots of layers and complexity with notes of ripe tropical notes with stone-fruit and citrus with a lovely line of ripe minerality.

Only 30 cases available via the website.

Tasting Notes

This 2022 SV release shows gorgeous white stone-fruit and a great florality coupled with lovely ripe tropicals and hints of basil and lime.  These follow through to the palate – which is fine and weighty with vibrant fleshy fruit and great texture balanced by a ripe, juicy acidity and lingering minerality.  This wine is deliciously drinkable upon release but will also benefit from some time in your cellar if you choose to do so.

Sam Kim 96 Points 5 Stars Expressing precision and clarity, the wine shows Granny Smith apple, fig, lemongrass, oatmeal and jasmine aromas on the nose, followed by an intensely flavoursome palate offering terrific fruit purity and persistency. Finely textured and brilliantly structured by vibrant acidity, finishing impressively long and mouth-watering. Hand-harvested, hand-sorted, and largely fermented in French oak barrels, yet the oak ‘flavours’ are not apparent, but provides textural saline mouthfeel and flow. This wine proves Sauvignon Blanc can be elevated to show sophistication. Certified organic. At its best: now to 2032

Stephen Wong MW 95 points
Very fresh, herbaceous nose, all green fruit and grass; citrus, salinity, gooseberries. Intense and pungent, this is classic Marlborough sauvignon blanc. The palate is textural and weighty, relying on graininess and phenolics as well as fruit density. There are hints of sweet apple and mascarpone adding complexity to the mid-palate. Powerful, backward, spicy and tight with the gooseberry drawing in on the finish to a saline, tangy finish. Intensely long, full-bodied and unevolved; this has a coiled power and chewiness that will see it develop over a few years. Drinking window 2024–2028
