2018 TWR Sauvignon Blanc
This 2018 Sauvignon Blanc is a blend from 3 special vineyards in two different sub-regions of Marlborough. Two of the vineyards are in the upper Awatere Valley – Trelawne Farm and Shamrock, and the third is our certified organic home block here in Renwick on the southern side of the Wairau Valley. The growing conditions in the Awatere are characterised by cooler temperatures and slower ripening than in the Wairau, which is all important for flavour development and ripe acidity. The wines from this sub-region tend to be more restrained in their youth but have great texture, structure and longevity. Our Te Whare Ra home block experiences the warmer days of the Wairau Valley and a bigger diurnal range. These climatic factors combined with our clay loam soil here, results in wines which have great texture and fleshiness and are characterised by riper tropical notes with stone-fruit with a lovely line of minerality.
Our 2018 release shows distinctive Awatere characters of guava, white currant, and elderflower coupled with lovely ripe passionfruit & tropical notes and hints of basil and lime from the Wairau fruit. These follow through to the palate – which is fine and soft with loads of fleshy fruit balanced by a ripe, juicy acidity and lingering minerality. There is real fruit weight here and that is complimented by lovely texture from the time on lees and the barrel parcels – It is utterly delicious!
Matthew Jukes for Money Week – UK – An insanely well made Kiwi Sauvignon
Truly great wines have a sense of place combined with texture, balance, fruit concentration and great length. These are qualities that cannot be added; they have to come from the vineyard, and TWR has first-class vineyards with old vines that are farmed organically and biodynamically and with minimal intervention in the winery, which has been specifically set up for small-batch winemaking. They are leaders in their field and their wines are staggeringly delicious… Insanely well-made with bitingly fresh fruit and laser-driven accuracy on the palate.

Quite a tight, yet textural, Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry, lime zest, lemongrass and a seasoning of tropical fruit and passionfruit character.

This is a vibrant, intense gooseberry-fruited Sauvignon Blanc with notes of fresh herbs and nuances of green stonefruits on a rich palate with a fine-textured line. Match with Pacific Rim and Mediterranean fare

Very attractive, fruity and totally varietal with aromas and flavours of fresh tropical fruits, pink grapefruit, lemon and apple. Sweet hay, wet stone, bell-pepper and peach tea. High acidity, fresh crunchy texture, a core of fruit and lengthy persistent finish. Lots to like and enjoy.

This is a gorgeous rendition of the variety; offering vibrancy as well as complexity within a delightful textural mouthfeel. Fragrant aromas of Gala apple, feijoa, nectarine and lemon peel with a hint of oatmeal on the nose.

Super quality here. This really is a flavor bomb with such intense fresh lime, green passion fruit and green mango delivered in zippy, enlivening mode.
Joe Czerwinski – 91 points
Delivers attractive hints of pineapple and white grapefruit on the nose; a silky-textured, medium-bodied palate; and a crisp, refreshing finish. Above all, there’s a seamless, elegant flow to this wine as it crosses the palate, coupled with plenty of intensity and length.
