2019 TWR Chardonnay
The growing conditions here in Marlborough, mean that it is well-suited for the production of world class Chardonnay. We have a relatively cool climate which results in a long, even growing season which is great for flavour development. This means that we can make a style of Chardonnay which balances concentration and complexity, whilst retaining the finesse that a higher natural acidity brings – which is unashamedly the style we like to drink!
Lifted aromas of grapefruit, toasted almond, and white nectarine are complemented by smoky, savoury notes, white florals and hints of spice. These aromas follow on to complex, supple palate with real depth of flavour including grapefruit, fresh fig and white stone-fruit as well as savoury, mineral notes. Well integrated toasty oak and a lingering, spicy persistence complete this wine.

A very engaging bouquet of Chardonnay, varietal, even, balanced, nicely complex, layers of oak and fruit, just enough toasty smoky wood layers, wood spice and concentration. Flavours on the palate suggest grapefruit and white peach, lemon, quince and vanilla. Very youthful with plenty of acidity, medium+ weight, lots of palate tension, fruit flavours, a chalky texture and lengthy finish. Decant for service and enjoy from today and through 2024.
Bob Campbell MW – 94 points – Vintage 2018
Perfectly-pitched chardonnay with moderately concentrated and accessible flavours and a nice mix of citrus, white peach, nutty yeast lees, hazelnut and spicy oak flavours. A creamy-textured wine that should develop well but is deliciously drinkable now. The wine opened up in the glass and would probably benefit from a little aeration.
Sam Kim – 95 points – Vintage 2018
The wine shows an elegant sense of restraint; offering white flesh nectarine, fig, lemon peel and oatmeal characters on the nose, leading to a finely textured palate that’s focused and persistent. It’s pristine and poised with youthful fruit flavours and discreet oak nuances, finishing impressively long and refined. Certified organic. At its best: now to 2026.

There’s a very fresh, juicy and pure feel to this chardonnay with an array of ripe pears and honeydew. The flow is effortless. So delicious.
